Things Needed
KB Charitable Trust
Wish/Need Priority List
A. Bel-Aire Community Outreach (Inner-City Ministry):
1. Youth director to live in the mission house and work full time with the inner-city kids and help coordinate ministry activities between our families and organizations from the suburbs.
2. IPOD, to store colllection of inner-city gopsel music to be play at fellowships and events.
3. Low Income Housing: We desparatly need and are ready to purchase a $20,000 (+/-) duplex that can be fixed up and furnished by church groups and volunteers. That way we will have housing for various individuals we are trying to help that can only afford $150 to $200 monthly rent. We cannot go forward until we have some folks willing to help make this project a reality.
4. Benevolence Fund: We desparately need to find some churches/businesses to contribute monies to establish a benevolence fund to assist some of our families when short-term financial issues come up. We now (and on an ongoing basis) have real needs among good familes... but we have no source of funds to help meet these needs, Most of the folks can pay the monies back, or at best would be willing to work it off by working in Bel-Aire. Establishing this fund is one of the greatest needs we have.
5. Work Days: We need church/small groups, business groups, and civic organizations to come perform work days on various houses lots and inner-city projects going on in Bel-Aire. It would be impossible for your group to want to get involved and we not have something for them to do. Projects we currently have needs for work groups on are:
a. Three houses in our housing program needing repairs.
b. Cleaning and minor repairs at our mission house/office.
c. Bleacher built for basektball court at mission house.
d. Water fountain for mission house.
e. Vacant lot cleared for flower garden.
f. Misc Street clean-up projects
To schedule a work-day please call the office at 864-233-7626
B. Volunteers Needed !!!
An office is located at 28 Seth Street where the administrative and volunteer activities of KB Charitable Trust are headquartered. Due to the numerous projects that are being planned and the limited amount of funds available to meet the needs of the ministries/projects it is essential that sufficient volunteers are available to contribute their time to these causes. It would be most desirable for the office to contain at least one volunteer on each day of the five day, forty-hour workweek. This is the minimum necessary to handle the volume of ministry activities and organizational efforts related to our various ministries/projects. If you or someone you know has an interest in volunteering at the KB Charitable Trust headquarters, please contact our office or email us directly your comments and questions.
Some of the various activities needed in the corporate office are:
- Facilitating, printing and stuffing of mailings and various ministry updates
- Typing correspondence related to ministries/projects
- Updating ministry database as to mailing addresses, etc.
- Volunteers are needed for for researching the Bel-Aire Community outreach ministry. A complete data base of the community is being built containing valuable information about each family, business, church, etc in our target community. This includes vacant buildable lots, abandoned houses, parks, etc. The task is huge and worthy of the effort.
- Men, who are willing to drive through the various tax map areas of Bel-Aire are needed to help identify the different properties in each tax map area
- Since the house also serve as our youth activity center, having the house cleaned on a regular basis is also needed.
- Families/Individuals willing to get involved in the possible inner-city church plant are also needed in the various activities geared toward building relationships with families in the communities are also much needed.
C. OPERATIONS:
1. We are desiring to rent/buy a warehouse to house donated items and run a community thrift store and house equipment and building supplies for community re-developement activities. We presently turn down a large percentage of donated items simply because we have no place to store then until we can deliver the items to our families.
2. Community Contacts: We need to draw from community net-workings to find contacts with various organizations and companies to help provide various needs, such as:
a) We need a contact with the Greenville Drive so we can tickets for the kids. It is quite expenses when we have to pay face value for the tickets added to the cost of refreshments.
b) We go through about $100/months in soft drinks at the mission house and need a contact where we might be able to get a price break on soft drinks and bottled water.
c) During the summer months we try to cook-out every Sunday night with the kids. That runs about $75 per cook-out. Since we do not get alot of contributions during the Summer months we need a contact who could help with these supplies.
d) Any contacts in the building industry are badly needed as a source of extra and/or scrap job materials that could be used in re-building the Bel-Aire community. (Building supplies, landscaping, tree services, paint, equipment, firewood, etc)
D. FINANCIAL SUPPORT:
1. Help obtaining 1,000 annual sponsors, giving $125/year
2. Contributors willing to help cover the gap until we get enough sponsors to fund our activities
3. Contributors willing to match funds in an effort to raise the capital to pay off existing debt of Seth Street mission house ($50,000 )... which will reduce ongoing operating cost and secure charity financially. The present operating cost of the mission house comes directly out of the youth budget and reduces monies that could be used for youth activities.
